Creating a Roadmap
The step-by-step journey from goal to first episode
Creating a roadmap takes just a few minutes. You define what you want to achieve, and AI handles the rest by designing a personalized sequence of episodes tailored to your goals.
The creation process
Choose your roadmap type
Select Assessment (measure skills), Learning (practice skills), or Combined (measure, practice, then measure again). Each type is optimized for different objectives.
Define your goal
Describe what you want to achieve. Be specific: 'improve leadership skills' is okay, but 'lead cross-functional teams more effectively' is better. Your goal shapes the entire roadmap.
Select your world
Choose the world where your roadmap will take place. This determines the context of your episodes: workplace, social, or other environments you've created.
Review the generated plan
Wise creates a structured plan with seasons and episodes. Review it to make sure it aligns with your expectations. You can adjust before starting.
Start your first episode
Your roadmap is ready. The first episode is unlocked and waiting. Complete it to unlock the next, building momentum as you progress.
Crafting an effective goal
Your goal is the foundation of your roadmap. AI uses it to design relevant episodes. Better goals produce better roadmaps.
- check_circleBe specific about context: 'Negotiate salary' is better than 'be more assertive'
- check_circleInclude the outcome you want: 'Lead meetings that end with clear decisions'
- check_circleReference your situation: 'Manage a team for the first time' or 'transition to a client-facing role'
- check_circleKeep it focused: One clear goal produces a more coherent roadmap than multiple competing objectives
Examples of Good Goals
'Prepare for behavioral interviews at tech companies' / 'Give difficult feedback to direct reports without damaging relationships' / 'Navigate conflict between team members as a neutral mediator'
Understanding the generated structure
Once you define your goal, Wise generates a roadmap organized into:
- check_circleSeasons: Thematic groupings of episodes. A leadership roadmap might have seasons like 'Foundational Communication', 'Difficult Conversations', and 'Strategic Influence'
- check_circleEpisodes: Individual sessions within each season. Each episode has specific skill targets and a realistic scenario
- check_circleEpisode states: Episodes progress through locked → ready → in progress → completed
Progressive unlocking
Episodes unlock sequentially. You can't skip ahead. This isn't arbitrary. It ensures you build foundational skills before tackling more complex scenarios.
When you complete an episode, the next one unlocks automatically. This creates natural momentum and a clear sense of progress.
Adjusting your roadmap
Your roadmap isn't permanent. As your priorities shift, you can:
- check_circleUpdate your goal and let AI adjust remaining episodes
- check_circleExtend the roadmap by adding more episodes or seasons
- check_circlePause one roadmap and start another
- check_circleRun multiple roadmaps in parallel for different objectives
Your Roadmap, Your Pace
There are no deadlines. Work at whatever pace fits your schedule. Pick up where you left off whenever you're ready. Consistency matters more than speed.
What happens inside an episode
Each episode places you in a realistic scenario with characters. You interact through dialogue, making decisions and responding to situations. After the episode:
- check_circleYou receive feedback on your performance
- check_circleYour PowerWheel updates to reflect demonstrated skills
- check_circleYou earn 1-3 stars based on goal achievement
- check_circleThe next episode unlocks
Tracking your progress
Your roadmap view shows your journey at a glance: completed episodes, current progress, and what's coming next. Watch your PowerWheel evolve as you progress through the roadmap, with skills strengthening based on your demonstrated capabilities.
