Why Points and Streaks Exist

Soft skills need regular practice, just like any other skill

Soft skills are skills - not personality traits. Personality is relatively fixed and hard to change. Skills can be developed, sharpened, and expanded with practice.

Think of it like coding: no one becomes a developer by writing code once a month. The same applies to soft skills. You need regular practice to keep them sharp, ready for critical moments in your work and personal life.

Your soft skills are like a toolbox. You need different tools for different situations, and you need to know when to use each one. That toolbox should grow and evolve as you change throughout your life and career.

The gamification in WiseWorld isn't about making learning 'fun' - it's about helping you build the habit of regular practice.

How you earn XP

Experience points track your engagement. Here's roughly how they work:

  • check_circleCreating a new world: +50 XP
  • check_circleStarting an episode: +10 XP
  • check_circleEach conversation exchange: +2 XP
  • check_circleCompleting an episode: +50 XP
  • check_circleGood outcomes: +0-50 XP depending on how it went
  • check_circleDaily practice: +20 XP bonus
  • check_circle7-day streak: +100 XP bonus

Using hints costs 5 XP each. Not as punishment, but to encourage you to try first.

Streaks

A streak counts consecutive days you've practiced. Missing a day resets it. This sounds harsh, but there's a reason: just like learning an instrument or a language, daily practice - even for 10 minutes - keeps your skills sharp and ready when you need them.

You start with some 'streak freezes'-get-out-of-jail cards for days you can't practice. Earn more by being consistent.

Levels

As XP accumulates, you level up. It's a rough measure of how much you've practiced overall. Nothing more, nothing less.
